  • Dave Ireson

    Dave has been working in the health and fitness industry since 1993. Initially working as a fitness instructor he completed a Degree in Sport and Exercise Science then followed this with a Masters Degree, specialising in Exercise Physiology. After University Dave worked in two main areas, one was to develop professional sportspeople at Elite and Club level, the other to develop facilities in the health and fitness sector. With the experience gained working in these areas he went on to lecture in both Further and Higher education. In 2003 he founded Envisage and is currently responsible for business development. He is, however, still passionate about teaching and delivers on a range of qualifications as well as working with other members of the team to improve quality.

  • Sarah Bagshaw

    Sarah qualified as a fitness instructor in 1987 and has 20 years experience working in the fitness industry as a group exercise instructor, personal trainer and group fitness manager. She has been involved in fitness instructor training since 1992, originally working as a tutor for Central YMCA and then setting up her own training company in 1998 before joining Envisage as a partner in 2003. Originally graduating with an honours degree in Genetics and Microbiology from Leeds University in 1986, Sarah has more recently gone on to complete a Masters Degree in Population Health Evidence at Manchester University. She is a qualified post 16 teacher and has worked as a lecturer within Further and Higher education, both in the UK and Australia. Sarah has a passion for Health Related Exercise specialising in group fitness and special populations and continues to develop and deliver training programmes in these areas for Envisage.

  • Adam Stancey

    Adam Stancey graduated in 2009 from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Sports Science with Coaching. He began his career in the fitness industry in 2002, working as a leisure attendant and sports coach for Barnsley Premier Leisure. He moved on to DVC Sports at Dearne Valley College in 2005, starting as a Fitness Instructor, progressing onto Health and Fitness Coordinator and finally Sports Centre Manager. Adam joined Envisage as a part time tutor and assessor in 2011 and became a full time member of the team in 2012. Adam has contributed to the development of the L2 Fitness Instructor programmes but now works predominantly on funded training contracts, coordinating the programmes and providing support to business owners and their staff to access training opportunities. Adam's favourite part of his role with Envisage is that he gets to meet new people with the same passions and interests as himself on a daily basis. 

  • Lee Bell

    Lee Bell has been involved in the fitness industry since 1999 and with Envisage since 2005. Graduating with an honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science, he went on to complete a Masters Degree in the same area. Lee has worked alongside professional sportspeople, at an elite level, in a variety of sports and has developed a passion around the area of strength and conditioning for performance; he has academic, peer-reviewed research published in this area. Lee is currently a Tutor and Assessor on a range of programmes for Envisage and contributes to the Quality Assurance process for these programmes. 

  • Laura Shepherd

    Laura has an Honours Degree in Psychology and PGCE in Post Compulsory Education. She has worked in the Further Education sector since 2009 specialising in Functional Skills (English and maths). Laura joined Envisage in 2014 primarily to develop and teach Functional Skills on a range of apprenticeship programmes but is now also involved in the development of Employability Skills, helping learners to find and secure employment. Laura is a qualified Gym Instructor and Personal trainer and is involved in the delivery and assessment of these programmes for Envisage.

  • Mick Blythe

    Mick has an MSc in Applied Sport & Exercise Science and is qualified to instruct a wide range of sport and exercise disciplines. He is an experienced FE lecturer, having taught and led a range of sport and exercise programmes ranging from levels 1 to 5. He first entered the fitness industry in 1999, working as fitness instructor. Mick currently works as a tutor/assessor for Envisage, he is currently developing a range of CPD modules in Strength and Conditioning and runs his own ‘health and fitness’ consultancy. He is a regular contributor to GPSports.com and is an affiliate of BFNutrition.co.uk. Mick has a passion for all things active and is an enthusiastic organiser and supporter of many sporting and fitness events in order to raise money for good causes.

  • Matt Haines

    Matt has over ten years of experience in Further and Higher Education and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield where he contributes to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to sport, exercise and health. Prior to this he worked as a personal trainer and exercise referral instructor. Matt has a first degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Physiology. He is currently completing a PhD with a focus on exercise for patients with impaired glucose homeostasis (e.g. pre-diabetes) with a particular interest in low-volume high-intensity interval training. Matt also offers sport and exercise science support to a range of professional sports teams and individuals and is also a consultant exercise physiologist for a specialist obesity service. He is now an Accredited BASES Sport and Exercise Scientist and a BASES Certified Exercise Instructor.

  • Anita Proudfoot

    Anita, had a career change in her early 40's having had a keen interest in Health and Fitness personally.   She qualified as an Exercise to Music instructor in 2003 and since then has continued to add qualifications and experience in a wide variety of exercise, fitness and health related disciplines and work environments.   Anita has a passion for group exercise and working with special populations.   She is currently working full time as a Level 4 instructor in the field of obesity with both adults and children.  Anita joined Envisage in 2007 as an assistant tutor and assessor on group exercise programmes.  She now contributes to the delivery and development of a range of health related and group exercise programmes and continues to develop her role as a tutor and assessor.

  • Sharon Newson

    Sharon qualified as a Fitness Instructor in 2013, and went on to gain her L3 Personal Trainer Diploma in June 2014.  In September 2014 she achieved her L3 Exercise Referral.   

    Joining Envisage in Sept 2014, Sharon teaches on the Exercise Referral course and is also an Assessor.  

    Sharon has a passion for teaching and working with people that are limited by medical conditions and /or who lack the confidence and motivation to exercise consistently.  She works privately through her company Big Picture Living, and also with Rotherham’s ‘Active for Health’ Exercise Referral scheme. 

    Sharon is currently studying L4 qualifications in Obesity & Diabetes, Low Back Pain and Postural Stability.   She has an Honours Degree in Biblical Theology and over 20 years’ experience in business and finance.
